Do you ever order room service? I find that I rarely do but I know it is a popular feature for many whether you are in a hotel or even on a cruise ship.
Hotels.com has just released its first-ever Room Service Report, and we now have an interesting list of the most unusual room service orders. After polling hotels around the world, the findings of this report show many interesting surprises, like hotel room service is on the rise, as well as weird orders, extravagant requests, Canadian favourites, and more.
Here are the top 10 most unusual room service requests found in the Room Service Report by Hotels.com:
- Diet water
- Melted ice cream
- Blowfish
- Boiled bottled water
- Raw fish that guests brought and wanted to be cooked
- Cockle popcorn
- No egg white omellette
- Rice bowl (for dogs)
- Bison
- Eggless eggs in hell (shakshuka)
A few years ago a couple of guys took room service to a whole new level. Alfonso Ribeiro and Jeremy Jackson sent in the most ridiculous special requests to hotels to see how the hotel would respond and – amazingly – the hotels came up with many of the crazy requests.

OK so these guys were playing jokes on the staff and maybe the staff picked that up. (Hopefully). But there are serious requests sent in to hotels that really sound weird. Like the lady that was allergic to the colour purple!!
Lastly, have you ever found something really weird in your hotel room? One guest found a prosthetic limb under his bed. Don’t ask me what he was doing under the bed but that gave me the creeps. I don’t even want to look now just in case! Other crazy things – an urn (yes one of those), a loaded gun and finally a glass eye.
