C’mon don’t pretend you don’t make any New Year’s resolutions – even silently to yourself, because, let’s face it, the New Year is a great time to get yourself organised and on the right path. How many times have you said to yourself just after midnight – “OK, that’s it. I am going to cut down on junk and stop drinking” all this while eating sweet and salty popcorn and downing a glass of champagne. That’s why the gyms are always packed during the New Year. All the regulars look at the newbies and just laugh – “Yep, won’t be seeing you in a few weeks’ time”.
Travellers love making resolutions too – Like do something on your trip that makes you uncomfortable. I am not a brave person and when I signed up to go ziplining in Costa Rica I was so nervous on the bus I felt ill. Talking of feeling ill, how about when you travel and get presented with some weird food but you feel you should eat it. I absolutely draw the line at eating snails. The reason is that when I was a kid in Cornwall UK we used to pick the snails out of the hedgerows and sell them to a posh restaurant. Have you seen a live snail close-up – they are disgusting. Shudder. I would be no good on Amazing Race when it comes to the food challenges.
Resolutions can feel good, though. There is something so refreshing about a new start – a chance to be the person you want to be. But if you are looking for some new resolutions (because promising not to eat junk just hasn’t worked for ten years) then I came across some interesting and unusual ones that you might want to adopt.
“Stay in the bathroom while I brush my teeth” – oh wow. Was that me? Because it is so boring brushing your teeth so I walk around the bedroom trying to tidy things up with one hand and inevitably I do a crappy job of tidying up AND brushing my teeth.
Here’s another one that seems apt – Stop.Googling.Symptoms. Oh my goodness. That’s me. I do this. Why?? I am not a hypochondriac but it is just so tempting to find out what Dr Google thinks.
This one made me laugh “My New Year’s resolution is to not think that I’m above Autocorrect; I will not ignore it.” Well I think it is a very bad thing to ignore Autocorrect – because you know it is often wrong and even sometimes rude.
If your New Year’s Resolution is to work out and lose weight – it’s amazing what some people can accomplish.

This made me laugh – especially the final photo. Thanks for the chuckle. Hope 2023 brings you great joy!
Thanks Paddy – you too! All my best for 2023!
Good one Lesley! Sounds like me and auto correct but I have to keep it due to my lack of confidence in spelling😬. I laughed myself silly.🤣🤣🤣
Thanks Val – I think we are all a bit like that with autocorrect. Happy New Year!
