OK let’s look at some more bucket list trips – this one I love because I actually got to do this.
Tanzania – Safari, Hot Air Balloon Ride and a Visit to the Beaches of Zanzibar
Start off in Arusha, Tanzania in a beautiful hotel located among the coffee plantations along the banks of Lake Duluti. Once you have recovered from your flight head out the next morning to spend two nights in the Ngorongoro Crater. This huge crater one of the world’s largest intact volcanic calderas – it was formed when a huge volcano collapsed about 3 million years ago. This is one of the best places to see the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, rhino and buffalo). The sides of the crater are so high that my ears popped riding up there just like I was on a plane!
Then transfer across to the Serengeti – another renowned game watching area. This is where you get to stay in a safari lodge equipped with traditionally styled grass huts. Don’t worry – every comfort awaits including en suite bathrooms. While here you will enjoy a hot air balloon ride over the Serengeti. Then on to another unique accommodation – a tented safari camp. I have done this and the tents are amazing. Again all mod cons including en suite bathroom. I love the tented accommodations as you can easily hear all the animal noises at night.
Then board a plane and fly to Stonetown in Zanzibar. This was an important place in the slave market and many slaves were held here waiting for transportation. The old town is a UNESCO site. Next day you get to sail on a traditional dhow along the coast.
Fantastic experiences – oh I want to do this again.
