Global Morning News – A Cruise Steeped in History – Greek Islands

This cruise has some of my favourite places to visit. Sail from Rome to Barcelona and along the way visit Mykonos, Athens and Santorini – also Ephesus in Turkey and Malta.

But first let’s talk about what is included on this cruise ….

First of all you sail in a beautiful veranda stateroom. I honestly wouldn’t want to cruise in anything less. Having that veranda is a little private space and especially on this voyage where you are anchored off shore e.g. Santorini. You have wonderful views of the bay and nothing nicer than having coffee in the morning and watching the view.

The other reason I like this itinerary is the visit to Ephesus. The temple of Artemis is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. For anyone interested in ancient history this is a must.

And finally, one of my favourite places in the Med – the island of Malta. This is such a great place to explore. Wonderful for history buffs – the Romans, the Moors, the Knights of St John and a very important place during the Second World War. Churchill called it an “unsinkable aircraft carrier” as the British air and sea forces based on the island could attack Axis ships transporting vital supplies and reinforcements from Europe. I actually lived on Malta for two years and my sister was born there. Sadly too young to remember ☹ But I have been back and loved it.
